  • What is Scholar Activity?
    Scholar Activity is a web-based faculty portfolio system for higher education to standardize the collection of data and reports on faculty accomplishments & service activities. Reports can be used for accreditation compliance, faculty teaching and service deployment, internal reviews, promotion & tenure among others. Reports can be used for specialized accrediting bodies (AACSB, ABET, ACBSP, NCATE), regional accrediting bodies (MSA, NEASC, SACS, WASC, etc), State or System Office, and for Internal Reports.

  • Are there reports suitable for specialized program accreditation such as AACSB, ABET, etc?
    Yes, we have several predefined reports according to AACSB and ABET reporting format and requirements. These reports calculate and aggregate all data instantly.
  • What other reports are available?
    There are multiple reports suitable for use in faculty deployment, internal reviews, among others. These reports can be used in conjunction to reports for external and internal constituents. There are too many reports to list here, but sample reports includes;

  • How accurate are the reports?
    All reports generated have been tested and used at colleges that have implemented Scholar Activity. All forms are programmed to capture the most pertinent data to generate the multiple reports on faculty activities and accomplishments.
  • Can we customize reports other than the general released reports?
    Yes. We will work with you to customize reports according to your specific needs.
  • Can files be uploaded?
    Yes. At the college access level, accreditation documents, minutes, etc can be uploaded and are instantaneously available to all users. At the faculty access level, journal articles, etc can be uploaded and available as a hyperlink in various reports. Acceptable files are .doc, .xls, .ppt, .txt, and .pdf
  • What about usability?
    Scholar Activity is very user-friendly and easy to navigate. Help utilities and instructions are available throughout the system. Users can cut and paste to fields in a form making it less time-consuming.
  • How secure is Scholar Activity?
    All data transmissions are secured over a 128 bit SSL certificates. Data are stored in two servers at a Tier-1 data center in California and offers an additional back-up in Connecticut. Security on the network, applications and databases are supported by our hosting provider.
  • What about privacy issues?
    At Scholar Systems, we do not sell, market, or use your data for any reasons. All data collected are owned by the institution or college. We do not collect nor require any personal or sensitive information other than a valid college e-mail address.
  • How reliable and accessible is Scholar Activity?
    Scholar Activity is hosted at Intermedia, Inc. with a network uptime of 99.99% and applications uptime of 99.5%. Our back-end technologies enabled multiple users to log in at the same time and system processing is quick and instantaneous. Over the past year, Scholar Activity has always been up and running and is easily assessible from anywhere, at anyplace and at anytime.
  • Are servers and software required to be installed?
    No server and software are needed to be installed at your campus. Scholar Activity is a web-based system and all servers and applications are provided by Scholar Systems. All you need is an internet connection via your local ISP, and a web browser (I.E. 6 or higher, Firefox 2 or higher and Netscape 4 or higher). No investment in I.T. is required to use Scholar Activity.
  • Is training provided by Scholar Systems?
    Yes. We offer training at your location at no additional cost (travel reimbursed). However, no colleges have required any training yet. Scholar Activity is easy to use, is user-friendly and is easy to navigate that all users can begin using without much assistance.
  • What kind of support service is provided?
    We will assist in all set-up, implementation and continuous assistance to any issues you may encounter at no additional cost. We quickly response to any inquiries and help resolve matters in as quickly as one day to two days depending on the issue.
  • How can I implement Scholar Activity at my college?
    There are two forms of implementation; 1) the university annual license or 2) the college annual license. The university license is implemented campus-wide with more than two colleges. Please contact us for more information and for the annual licensing fees. Once we get all the required information to set-up the system, implementation can be as quick as two days.
